Free will vs Predestination

Postby wobbles on Mon Jul 26, 2010 4:41 pm

If God allows man his own choices and decisions, doesn't force man to obey him but allows us to choose between our own way and his way, then we would be led to believe that God has provided us with free will.
But if God then is in control of all things and is often said to have a plan for all of us, then surely it is God controlling our actions and nothing we do is truely our own will and our lives are predestined. This then begs the question of faith and whether it is man's choice to come to God or God's choice to bring man to him

Or God knows everything but doesn't decide on it unless we ask Him to?

This is one of the issues that people have with the idea of heaven and hell, why would God create peole just to send them to hell if he "knows the plans he has for you" then what kind of twisted mind would just make something in the knowledge that it would spend eternity in torment?
